Invesco Perpetual Pension Fund

I have a HL SIPP spread across two funds. The bulk is invested with Invesco's UK equity pension fund.

I monitor these funds fairly regularly and noticed that the Invesco fund seems to fluctuate quite dramatically - is this purely down to the size of the fund?

Also, I have decided to stick with the new manager for the time being based on his experience of working with Woodford and that if the fund reduces due to exits, it will be easier for him to move money around.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Kevnic

My situation is the same as your. Half of my SIPP is in the same Invesco fund. The other half is in the HL Multi Manager Income and Growth fund. I see no particular need to follow Woodford since the Invesco principles will still be followed. I am disinclined to be influenced by funds moving in and out of the HL Wealth funds, it strikes me that the changes are made for commercial reasons rather than purely upon performance factors.

Glad to see there are like minded people about. :)

Do you know why the fund fluctuates so much?

The fund is certainly not for the "ethical" investor (-:

It seems to cover drugs (including life science), defence, tobacco, and aircraft. It is almost as though Invesco set out to develop an unethical fund. The exposure to these sectors is unusually influenced by developments in the news, unrest and patent suits. We are taking above normal risk and should expect some price swings. I was attracted to the fund because of the high exposure to drug development. So far it has delivered nicely but I am aware that there are vulnerabilities given the unusual mix.

Agreed, have had the fund for some time and made decent gains. I was told that it is important to understand what causes the peaks and troughs within your investments. My other funds are pretty steady but Invesco seems to have large price swings on a regular basis. Will just have to keep an eye on business news etc. to fathom out the causes.
  • It was more a gamble than judgment, but I have just cashed in £35,000 of gain on this fund over two years to repay a mortgage. A fund that has performed exceptionally well.
