Greenbelt is a legal minefield and won't be built on. Most of London is low-rise. This development is established and has consumed the land. It is inefficient for the requirements of today but that has happened now. Building on the remaining land that has not been protected by greenbelt or parks is the next step and then more intense building on the satellite cities.princeofpounds wrote: »Vast areas of London, a majority, are exceptionally low-rise. If planning policy changed you could do a lot on existing land. And I say that as someone who is not obssessive about preserving the green belt.0 -

Come on Devon old bean.
I'd have thought you've got a pile of moneyweek publications on your coffee table to know who MSW is and that she relocated to Edinburgh

No idea, sorry. Never even read a copy of moneyweek. I know it's a publication that apparently everyone who believes house prices are too high apparently reads because that's what we are told we do....but still have no idea what MSW is.
Or indeed what the hell it has to do with this thread. Or Charles.0 -

What it has to do with this thread is the Merryn Somerset Webb (You know, you've posted about here before), STR'd from London to Edinburgh.
She's the editor of Moneyweek who has been stating the House Prices were too expensive, moved to a cheaper area of the country and then saw that the area she had left has increased further (as per the OP):wall:

Why does young talent have to live in London? Can't they take their talent to Manchester/ Birmingham if houses are too expensive.
If cheap housing is the be all and end all there's plenty outside of London.0 -
I remember when Madonna was married to Guy Richie, and she once done a radio interview to an American station talking about this and that; and she was complaining about the crazy house prices in London! if a person who is worth hundreds of millions is complaining about house prices then you would have to be a fool to be in favour of high prices.0
