Financial support from a parent

We received our mortgage offer from the Natwest last week. Today I got a letter from the solicitor saying she had written to Natwest advising that part of the deposit was a gift from my dad (not a loan in anyway or with any conditions attached) and that she would let me know if they revise the offer. I am confused now as we were open and honest about this at the mortgage application stage and so Natwest are aware. I am confused why and how they may now change the mortgage offer. Anyone got any advice or similar experience.

Thank you x

It's a natural part of the process with regards to solicitors. If you have declared it was a gift etc. then you shouldn't have any problems whatsoever. Wouldn't panic.
  • I'm sort of in the same boat! The Halifax are asking us for various documents proving the source of our deposit (gifted from family) and I'm getting worried too.
