Just ordered some Commemorative Paris by ysl 125ml EDT £30 which seems to be about half the price of everywhere else, for mothers day.

Free gift bag automatically added, free postage and a £5 gift voucher when spending £30 or more and 5% quidco today !

Then ordered another bottle and free gift with hubbys account, for another gift voucher (one per customer per day).

There is a 10% code on MSE but Debs T's & C's say can't be used with free gift

Thankyou Claire, 4 quality presents for less than £50
Still virtually alcohol free since 4/1/15. (10 Xmas/ New Year/Birthday drinks)

I can see how it is a little treat to some people, but more often than not - people usually end up paying for things that they really do not need, all to get a GWP or as quoted 'goodie bag' when these are actually free samples (naughty on debenhams part).

    Oh, i completely agree.
I think it's just an item i was after anyway. I regularly search online for miniature perfume sets, i don't know why. They're usually hard to find, as they only come out at Xmas (boots.com etc)
So, for me it's a good freebie. And it is free, if you were buying an item anyway.
I'd say they are better than free samples tho. These are actual small bottles. And they are good brands.
But, like i said, i understand what you're saying.

  • Actually, are they small bottles, or are they vials?
    Does anyone know?

Looking at their ML sizes, they cannot be as pictured.

I have found normally that if you go to Boots/Debenhams/Harvey Nichols and enquire about fragrances and are "extra nice" to the staff, they will let you have a few samples for free, so you don't have to part with any money.

I remember buying some eau de toilette from Harvey Nichols that came with a GWP, a big duffle bag. But the member of staff went out of her way and bundled me about 10 samples, 3 of which were rather big and lasted me a long time.

Well done to everyone that got theirs. Happy days.

The last time they ran this promotion, they were carded vials, they used the glass bottles for the photograph.

If I remember correctly it was a cotton bag which contained the vials on cards.

Generally I find that Lancome & Estee Lauder are very generous when you ask politely to try some samples. It does them no harm does it? Infact my regular purchases of beauty products, all came about because I had tried samples.
I never buy a product without sampling it first.

Last time they did this I received carded vials which were in a clear plastic bag so what I would consider samples not bottles as such.

I have found my last couple of orders delivered from Superdrug ( hair are and deodorants) have contained 3 different carded vials if anyone is making an order from there ;)
