Help
New here & realise that what I'm writing may not be original but here goes. I desperately (& really do mean that) need to borrow £500. Have horrible rather than bad credit history, the pay as you go electric meter needs a top up, I have £1.25 in my pocket & need to get some food in to feed my wife & I tonight. My wife doesn't know how bad things are (trying to protect her as she's a recovering alcoholic). Have tried the payday loan lenders with no joy. Have already pawned all that I possibly can. I'm a hard worker & know that given a chance I can repay quickly - I just need someone to take a chance on me. Don't have anyone I can think of to act as guarantor. Help, please, as suicide seems the only way out & at least that would provide for my wife.

OP, I'm afraid if the PDL have knocked you back then no commercial lender is going to touch you with a barge pole.
Why do you need £500? That's an awful lot for some food and some electric.
My suggestions would be
1) Look online for local food banks to help you out with something to eat
2) Try your local DWP for a crisis (social?) loan
3) Friends or family?
I don't mean to sound un sympathetic, but surely suicide is a bit dramatic? What do you think your wife would say if she heard that?
Head over to the Debt Free Wannabe section of the board for some short and long term advice.0 -
Sorry, that was a typo - it should have read £50. The way I feel right now suicide isn't so silly. I can't see a way out & right now what should be small change seem like a vast sum. Can anyone suggest a quick source of help?0

You need to speak to your wife about this
what's in your freezer/food cupboards?0 -
do you own the computer/phone you're on now? You could pawn it maybe? I agree - speak with your wife and go to the Citizen's Advice bureau. Even if the office is closed they still have a helpline and might be able to direct you to soup kitchens in the area. There's also this - http://www.thepavement.org.uk/services.php?facility=17&service=13&city=0

Hi and welcome to the forum
Realistically it sounds like you won't get a loan from any commercial lender.
When do you or your wife next have any income coming in? (are you earning wages? or do you have benefit income)?
In the short term a foodbank as suggested may be an option - this link may help http://www.trusselltrust.org/map.
In terms of the electricity then are friends/family able to lend you a few £? if not what could you sell to raise some money?
Once you have sorted out the short term crisis then you need to have a think about the longer term so it doesn't happen again. If you already have debts you are struggling with then speak to one of the debt advice charities - see here - IMPORTANT - Where to seek professional impartial advice about your debts.
If you are on benefits are you getting all you are entitled to?
Are you struggling to budget your money so that it lasts between paydays/benefit payments?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
