Council to NHS - Continuous service?

Hello
I've just managed to secure a new job within the NHS and I'll be leaving my current role working for a local council. I was under the impression that because I'm moving within the public sector, my start date (at the council) would be honored within the NHS for holiday entitlement, redundancy etc.
HR within the NHS are saying they won't honour my Council start date - is this the case?
Many thanks.

Hi - we have in the past recognised council service but not any more - mainly due to lots of restructuring that have meant higher redundancy payouts.0

When I worked in the NHS in HR, we only honoured NHS service, if the break was less than 3 months. We never honoured other public sector service - therei s no legal right for them to do so and I'm not sure why they would, as they are different employers.
if you are in the pension scheme, you may be able to transfer your LA pension, but that's about it.0 -
The NHS and the council despite being similarly publicly funded are not the same employer.
So it isn't ultimately reasonable to expect to able to transfer employment conditions from one to the other.
If you were moving from an NHS employer to another employer within the NHS, then I would expect to keep your existing annual leave, sickness, redundancy entitlements.:www: Progress Report :www:

Separate organisations so your previous service doesn't count. It may be relevant to negotiating higher starting pay. You will also be able to transfer your accrued pension fights on favourable "Public Sector transfer Club" terms which may or may not be a good idea depending on your personal circumstances0
