Bailiff Advice: Newlyn

Dear all,
I have a council tax debt, that has been passed onto Newlyn Bailffs. They quickly upped the charges and added £750.00 on top ! I counter acted as they had not gained entry and could not levy any goods. I wrote to them instructing them of the lawful charges that could be held against the account and also informed Islington council.
I have asked for the following: Bailiff name, and court details which they decline to give me, as it is "vexatious and unneccessary"..
I think it is my right to have this information. Anyone have any ideas on the wording of my next letter to them?
Appreciate your thoughts/ideas.

It is indeed your right. Write back and demand the information or your next missive will be to the ombundsman and the bailiffs professional body...as per here :

Have a look at Myths 3 & 4 Bailiff Info - they do like to scare & intimidate though  (Ok, seems I can't post a link yet - Google for "8 myths about debt part 1" and you'll find it)
I've heard stories of some bailiffs even climbing ladders to try the upstairs windows. It seems some firms are notorious for dodgy tactics. Also beware of letting them in so they "can just use the loo" or "I can't get coverage, I'll phone the boss to sort this out".
I've had dealings with similar people (not this firm though) in relation to Council tax when I was going through a bad patch but they didn't levy fees to that extent.
CAB has advice on if fees are likely to be unreasonable & how to complain. (Can't post a link but I found it on the CAB website). With fees of that magnitude I'd be inclined to complain & make the Council's Chief Exec's office & local politicians aware and tell them that it's unacceptable bullying - put them in the public glare if you can. through Social Media. It really wakes Councillors & MPs up!0 -
