Newly BR- and British Gas pull the plug

Hi all,
Newly BR- and now got a letter in the post that British Gas have cancelled my DD payment, as I have instructed- but I didn't!
I gave up on the phone after hanging after 20 mins- but thinking this is due to BR?
Is there such a thing as a BR-friendly supplier?
And can this happen with any DD?
Cheers

Sure they aren't creating you a new account? that seems to be what they do when you go bankrupt.0

Hi
If British Gas were one of your creditors what should happen is; that they will close your fuel account and then open a new one. Any credit in your previous account will be credited to the new account as will any payments made after the BR date. You will then be offered a new DD unless you had serious arrears in which case they may ask if you will have a pre-payment meter to help you budget.
Any outstanding fuel debt will fall in to the BR.0 -
Thanks Guys
Yes the bill is just in my name, and I'm only in debit by £40 or so.
Nice if they could tell me what's going on, rather than falsely claiming I cancelled the DD myself!0
