Lidl Rowan Hill Bakery Multiseed Sliced, did they change the recipe?
Something happen to our staple bread in the last couple of month.
We buy the Lidl Rowan Hill Bakery Multiseed Sliced bread for £0.99 on a weakly basis, this use to be medium sliced bread that use to keep and not get dry for about four five days, lately the bread is thicker and get dry really quickly especially if frozen (which was not the case before).
Also noted on my toaster that this bread use to brown well on level 3 and now we need to set it to 3.5-4.
Long shot but did anyone else buying this noted any change?

I no longer eat bread as I have changed to crackers but when I did I used to buy the warburtons seedy bread in Icelands at £1.00 a loaf and that was delicious and even nicer toasted. It also freezes very well0

I totally agree. Their old bread was perfect. Stayed fresh for many days. Did not dry out and was nice and seedy! The new bread they have is either white or brown with seeds added. It is usually dry and falls apart once it has been open for only a few hours. It also does not freeze well.

I just bought one of the new Rowan Hill seeded loaves and am devastated at how this gloriously soft and nutty bread has now become just another dry, brittle and relatively tasteless supermarket loaf. The change is extreme, from a unique loaf to a bog standard one. I only stopped buying the old version to make home baked bread and now on going back to this loaf I can't believe the change and can't see how they think this is an improvement.
I regularly sample seeded breads from across the high street and the old Lidl loaf was the best by a long way IMO with the M&S 'Super Seeded' coming in second followed by the un-sliced ASDA sunflower and honey seeded loaf (though the quality of this one is quite variable).
Anyone else reading this who appreciates quality bread please fill in Lidl's contact form as I am about to do and tell them to change the recipe back - it really was a top quality bread.
I can't post the link, just Goggle 'email Lidl' for the contact form.0 -
Not tried this new one but do agree how good the old one was .0
