What to do with small pot of money to get more

Dear all

Through various means, many recommended on here, I have managed to amass a small pot of money (£2000), some of which I would like to use to find a way of bringing in an income. It represents hours of small sales of household goods, hours of babysitting to 3 am, having to drive home in the snow and then getting up at 7 to go to work, hours of doing mindblowing surveys etc etc so I am loath to waste a penny of it.

One of my many jobs will finish in a couple of months, I took home about 190 a month from it. If there is something I can do to recoup that money it would be great, though I think I have found something else that will pay £60 a month so on my way already.

I used to own a business but found it quite stressful, lots of H and S regs, staff etc. and am still repaying a loan from it. A small one-person business would be good though but I don't know what. I don't have much in the way of hobbies or passions, my main passion to be honest is trying to find the time to just do nothing. At 63 I have several jobs and work very hard, would love some down time but will have to work a good few more years yet. Down time costs money!

In this situation what would you do? Even off the wall thoughts would be good. Thank you.

Liz

What pension provisions have you got?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Thanks, sorry I responded to this but it's got lost somehow!

I draw the state pension and a couple of workplace pensions which I took out as soon as I could to enable me to step off the 9 - 5 bandwagon. Total about £900 a month. I also work and my income should be easily enough to pay the rent, utilities, run the car etc but as I am still paying the business loan plus a couple of other commitments from that business, I would like to use this hard earned cash to produce a bit more and if possible, replace the income from the job which will soon be finishing.

Any ideas gratefully received. thank you.

£2K cautiously invested will produce virtually nothing in interest. You probably know far more about starting and running a business than I do, so I'm probably not the best person to advise you.

    How about matched betting?

It's very low risk when done correctly, it has it's own board area on MSE with helpful people and it seems reasonably easy to make cash (you will need a float to get started).

I started last Friday and have made c. £150 in a week. Beats the heck out of my savings interest ;)

Thank you, I always felt a bit scared of doing that but will have a better look and do more research. Thanks for the idea and well done on your gains.
