What to do with a small Silverside joint?

I've got a whoopsied prime silverside joint defrosting on the side for tomorrow's dinner.

I'd normally roast it, but its only 0.8kg, and it's for a midweek dinner, so doesn't seem worth heating the oven up, doing a full on roast/yorkshires etc dinner.

Needs to feed 2 adults and 2 children - what would you do with it?

Toying with dicing it and casseroling, but I wondered if anyone else had any ideas?

    Pot roast

Either slow cooker or hob. Instead of roasties do fondants in a pan on the hob
  • I would put it in the slow cooker. I have cooked a 1.1kg topside roast quite successfully in the slow cooker by just putting it in there (no liquid or anything) and setting it on low. I can't remember how long it took but at the end I took it out and put it under the grill to crisp it. It was delicious.

Casserole also sounds good. I would make goulash with it because I love it :)

  • another +1 for slow cooking it whole, sitting in a nice stock with sliced onions and maybe whole carrots as your side veg, or use some cheap bitter beer as stock - beef in beer :) keep basting!

Serve with mustard mash - yum!
