Career break and jobseeking

Just looking for a bit of advice.I am currently on a career break from my job (i.e, my job is being held open but I am not currently being paid).I have been away travelling and have decided that my current job is not for me so I have been approaching agencies to look for other work. However they seem to look on the fact that I am on a career break very unfavourably, despite me having worked for my current employer for almost ten years. So from now on is it best not to mention my career break / travels when applying for other jobs, as I am officially still working for the company who have given me the career break?Any opinions gratefully received, particularly if there are any recruitment consultants out there!

Agents are always paranoid about long breaks and stuff like that.
There are 3 choices, according to me:
1. I would suggest you don't cover it up, but dress it up a bit. Make it sound maybe a bit more than what it is. Don't say you were sunning yourself on the beach.
2. Forget the agents and approach companies that hire directly. Large organisations are generally more relaxed about career breaks.
3. Go back to work and apply for new jobs after a while. This may make the break not the first thing they talk about.
HTHThe quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0
