Has anyone dealt with MotorMile Finance?

Hi, I hope i'm posting this in the right place? Apologies if not.

I had a payday loan with WageDay Advance which I fell behind with. I completely accept this was my fault as I had an unexpected bill one month and did not apply for an extension in time.

At the begining of this month I emailed them my apologies and confirmed I would be able to pay back the full amount owed at the end of the month. However I didnt hear anything from them and three days later received a text and email from a company called MotorMile Finance stating that they had now purchased my account from the original lender.

I emailed them straight away with the same offer of clearing the debt by the end of the month and requested a copy of the account and instructions on how to pay. This was ignored and after several more seemingly computer-generated texts and emails from them I emailed again with the exact same information.

This morning (12.03!) I had another email stating that becasue I had ignored their requests to make contact with them my account was due to be defaulted, registered with the credit reference agencies and a 'doorstep agent' would be calling to discuss the matter.

So I have sent yet another email stating I will not discuss financial matters over the phone or on my doorstep, revoking their right of access to my property and my permission for them to show up at my home. I have also made it clear that the matter can easily be resolved if they will follow my original request and send me a copy of the account and a suitable payment method.

I'm concerned that this company is not playing by the rules and will end up making my life difficult despite my willingness to clear the debt. Any advice or previous experiences would be very gratefuly received.

Thank you!

Weirdly I have just had a voicemail message from 'Mike' their doorstep agent who has apparently tried to call and will be visiting my home shortly! It sounds like a pre-recorded message, with my account reference added in by a very computer sounding like voice!

I have dealt with collection agencies before but have never come across one like this!
  • I've had a payment plan with them for a while. I set it up by being utterly pig-headed..."Give me some details so I can set up a standing order. There you go, you're getting £15 a month."

    OP,
They are a complete bunch of shysters, they are the worst DCA out there, of the old school type, who say and threaten to do anything and everything to get the money, what really pi**es me off about them is the statement on there website "don't ignore us" or else what eh ???, anyway I digress, deal with them in writing, they wont answer emails, they want you to call them so they can threaten you some more, even if "mike" calls round, tell him where to go, you don't do business at the door, as you may have guessed I have experience of these "motormile monkeys" I even took them to the FOS for the way they behaved with me, but unfortunately the FOS cant do anything about there behaviour, only there financial goings on, tell them in writing what your going to pay, pay them, and ignore anything else they come up with.

    Hi,

Sorry it's been so long since I visited this thread!

Well, I am still dealing with MotorMile! And I have yet to pay anything towards the debt because they are steadfastedly ignoring all my attempts at setting up a playment plan, instead threatening more home visits and sending me letters offering me deals if I clear the debt in one go.

So I'm feeling a little stubborn and digging my heels in. After sending yet another email to them this morning, once again offering a payment I can afford and to fill in a budget form if needed, I have set up a standing order with my bank for the amount I have offered. I will now be ignoring all further contact from them and keeping a careful eye on how much I'm paying back and when the debt should be clear.

To anyone who has been contacted by them and is being threatened with home visits and court action please dont worry. Pay what you can afford each month, tell them you revoke their right to turn up at your property and breath easy. I'm sure it wont be long until theyre shut down anyway. When I went on their website this morning it said it was down for repairs, and I havent heard from them for nearly two weeks now. Maybe they've run into trouble? Here's hoping!

To sourcrates, thank you for your reply and congratulations on being debt free! I'm steadily working towards it, and look forward to one day being in the same position.
