Contacting Santander directly?

Hi,
Has anyone on here tried to get a progress update from santander directly?
Our broker is taking too long to get updates and this is now a matter of urgency with the seller.
Can i contact them and check when application/supporting documents have been uploaded and also when i can expect a valuation date etc?
We have been asked for extra documents 4 times. Application was submitted 14/02/2014. Last documents where uploaded 19/03/2014.
I cannot be bothered to chase the broker anymore so feel like the only way is to cut out the middle man.
We could lose this house today if we dont get a solid update on the application.
thanks.

I dont know the answer but rather than coming on here and writing all of that you could have probably been on hold to them for 5 minutesand asked them yourself?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. 5 minutes on hold to Santander? :rotfl::rotfl: Have you got a number I can use please? It's consistenly 20+ mins for me lately
Rizla, Santander are dealing with (not very well mind, but still) a huge backlog of applications so their service speed has been significantly reduced. At present, they're reviewing applications sent in on the 18th March.
The annoying thing is, when they've requested something, each time your broker has done a new upload - you go to the back of the queue. Let's say it's a 6 day turnaround as they're suggesting.
Mon 3rd March - Submitted / Received.
Mon 10th March - Passed to Underwriting.
Tues 11th March - Further documents requested.
Weds 12th March - Documents submitted.
Weds 19th March - Passed to Underwriting.
Thurs 20th March - Further documents requested.
Fri 21st March - Documents submitted.
Fri 28th March - Passed to Underwriting.
I'm sure you get the gist; just unfortunately, they won't ever short-cut or fast-track anyone's case, whether you ring, the broker rings or anyone else.
Sorry for the bad news..0 -
Never go direct to lender if you are using a broker.
That approach regularly causes problems are messages get lost in translation.
Always speak to your broker, it is their job to look after you.
Delays are most likely due to the lender but it sounds like your broker could have communicated that to you better.I am a Mortgage Broker
