Santander Ruined My Credit Score!!!
Hi All,
I thought about applying for a personal loan, submitted and application with Santander, They replied back saying I was declined.
Few days later I received a letter to explain why, It was mentioned that the reason I need the loan for does not match their lending policy, fair enough.
However, now looking at my credit report, they have credit searched me 3 times on Equifax for my past 3 addresses which means 3 new searches in one day on my credit file!!!!! I don't understand why would they do a credit check if there is no intention anyway to lend me which is clear on the application.
Please help, what should I do ?

I'd try to relax about the whole thing. Being searched by one lender hasn't ruined anything. Certainly not your made up credit score.
The letter was a standard one, with a reason being selected from a possible list. Entirely possible that it's not the only reason and that the credit search also threw up things they didn't like.0 -

Sounds like you initially got accepted for your mortgage application but by immediately applying for a loan, you have blown both the mortgage and the loan.
Nobody on here would ever advise applying for a loan until anything as important as a mortgage is sealed and delivered.0
