Can't install Epson scanner driver

Hi everyone,
Please can anyone help me with an issue with my new Epson XP-800 printer? It was a Which? best buy and apart from the scanner, it seems to work okay. However, with my Dell desktop running Windows 7 64-bit, the scanner driver won’t install, either from the supplied CD or from their website. I just get an error message ‘Epson Scan Setup Could not launch required programs during setup. Check the setup disc, then run setup again.’ I called Currys, where I bought it from and they couldn’t help and said to ask Epson. I called Epson customer support three times at 10p per minute and they got me to install the driver from different websites and to try to install it with my anti-virus and firewall switched off, but none of it made any difference. Interestingly, they did suggest I install it on my wife’s laptop, which runs Windows 8 and it worked with no problem. They said they extensively tested their drivers with no problem and suggested I get a Windows expert to come and fix it. Sounds cheap! Before I try that, does anyone have any suggestions please?

Sounds like a privileges problem!
How did you launch the setup?
did you just double click it?
If yes then try "Right Clicking" the setup file and select "Run as Administrator". See if that gets you further.Laters
