Changing DMP to one with less charges?

A work colleague has a DMP with someone and Ernst, (or something similar) and said that of an £80ish pound monthly payment £35 is going in charges. As the DMP is apparently up for review in June we were wondering how easy it would be to change to a company that charges less?
He says he found it so difficult to go down the DMP route in the first place, he doesn't want to have to dig all the paperwork out again and start from scratch so if it's going to be a lot of hassle he'd rather stay as he is.
Any advice or suggestions - I've heard stepchange mentioned, would swapping to them to cheaper and reasonably painless?
(I can't answer any more detailed questions, as this is all the info I have.)

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I use Step Change and have found them to be very good. There was some initial paperwork to sort out but once the DMP was up and running it didn't take any effort. It will definitely be cheaper as they don't charge any fees at all, and all the available payment comes off the debt and not into someone's pocket.

But if you're already with one company and wanting to change, can you just swap over the existing agreements with creditors, or would Step Change have to start again from scratch? That's what's worrying him.

Even if stepchange have to start a fresh this is a positive as the creditors will be getting more money, and if there is a break all your friend needs to do is contact each creditor give a ref no (get from stepchange) as well as letter that she'll need to send to say that stepchange are now dealing with it and for the swop over period she'll be making a manual payment.

    Creditors won't object.
    1 - there getting a payment
2 there be getting more money as stepchange are involved

I am pretty sure that your friend could change before her review date, just contact stepchange xx
