Bank Statements

Apologies if this has been asked before. I filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday last week and yesterday I received the paperwork to sign the data protection form etc, and also all the documents required which must be sent within 48 hours of receiving the letter. The list is quite extensive including a years bank statements for any credit card and bank accounts held... Where do I get this from? I don't get bank statements posted, it will take a lifetime to print and the bank likes me to pay £5 per statement!! Also the OR said he had no interest in my current account as it's a joint bank account with no debt, overdraft on it or anything, it was just a matter of whether the bank would close it and they haven't YET! So I do I need to send this card off? Also after speaking briefly to the OR he only asked to see a finance agreement document along with the signed paperwork, so would I still need to provide bank statements?! Sorry the bankruptcy was going well till this letter came in and I don't want to get anything wrong! Thank you X

The OR has the ability to get this information if you don't have the statements. I suggest you contact the OR and let them know or include a piece of paper stating you don't have any and the bank is looking to charge you. The OR should understand this (They won't expect you to have to make payments to get this)

If they already advised you they don't have any interest in your joint account you shouldn't need to send in this card. I think they just do this to ensure you aren't tempted to use any credit options until their taken care of. (And if they don't have interest in this account you should be ok)

Did you speak to the OR before or after they sent you the required documents? Either way, i'd still suggest you let them know you don't have the bank statements.

Everyone's BR seems to be different. I received the data protection forms but they didn't ask for any bank-statements, i think this is because they just obtain them themselves. Good luck with the rest of it!

I printed all my statements on line from internet banking and that was fine with the OR.
  • Thank you for your replies. The list of requirements was the whole side of A4! And I spoke to the OR on the tuesday afternoon who was lovely, and the letters I received yesterday from the OR assistant. The OR was very understanding on the phone so I think it will be fine if I include a note, the letter seemed so strict it was a bit daunting! x

I downloaded mine from my internet banking as pdf's and put them on a USB stick - OR quite happy with that.

I know, it is a long list isn't it  but I did a check list for the OR with details of what I did and didn't have and they were fine with that too. I had already opened a basic bank account and arranged for all my income to go into it - I didn't send that bank card in and on the BR form 6.28 you will have ticked the 'every day account' so they know which one.

I would highly recommend you open a basic account for yourself - the only high street bank that will let and un-discharged BR have one is Barclays. You don't say who the joint account holder is but that is a financial 'link' the CRA's will record and although it wont affect their assets, it may well affect the other holders credit rating quite badly - and if anything happens to the other account holder (god forbid - falls under a bus etc) you will be stuck without an account.
  • I just sent what I could, I couldn't get 12 months of statements offline but the OR said to send what I could and they will be able to contact the bank direct if they need anything else. I also was waiting for CC statement so did not send it all back within 48 hours and just told my OR who was fine with that.
Hope that helps. I know its stressful, I am still stressing everyday!
