Thanks so much to everyone who offered their help & advice as yesterday I received the following response from Highview:

Dear Madam,

With reference to the Parking Notice Issued to the above vehicle, after reviewing our data and in view of the representations made in connection with its issue, we have decided to cancel this Notice and no further action is to be taken.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Needless to say I am pleased with the outcome and couldn't have done it without your help.

I am still angry though that other people who are not aware of the help that can be found online will actually go ahead and pay this ridiculous charges  Is there anything I can do to help make others aware, or stop people like Highview from being allowed to operate in the way that they do? I plan to contact the landowner and make him aware of my feelings but if there's anything else I can do please let me know.

Thanks again to everyone who helped me out with this :T

You could write to DVLA and say Highview have broken their KADOE contract so DVLA shouldn't have released your info. Maybe write to your MP to ask them to help stop this whole sorry practice (I'm waiting to hear back from mine).

If the 70s had timeshare rip offs, and the 90s had PPI rip offs, we have PPCs rip offs.

Congratulations first 78 - great news.
I like you got one of these attempts to claim they had a right to my money when they didn't and I found this site.
The more I found out the more incensed I was at what they are getting away with.
Many just pay up because they're worried that if they don't they'll only end up paying more later - unfortunately scare tactics work.

Currrently (if BPA stats are to be believed) only about 11 people in 1000 make a POPLA appeal. And there are almost two million keeper details requested each year !!

So if we all just make sure we tell everyone we know not to pay these charges but to appeal them and where to find the help to do that (and ask them to tell everyone they know too) then pretty soon every keeper in the UK would at least know they had that option.
