L&C mortgage brokers - recomended by MSE?

Options
Has anyone else had problems with L&C - I only know of them as they write the re-mortgage guide I asked for from this site - no customer service at all, don't return calls (x3) and when I did speak to someone he was SO unpleasant!! :(

Whilst MSC may give generally good advice; I think you're more than aware of the service you've already received and looking elsewhere likely makes sense to absolutely anyone reading this thread.

Look for a reputable broker in your area. I'm assuming you're first time buyers and they should take the hassle out of everything start to finish. For a small fee or no fee at all, brokers are worth their weight; best of luck :)

We had exactly the same experience. Impossible to get calls returned. We actually lost the first house we wanted because of the delay. Lots of people saying the same thing on the London & Country Facebook page. Decided to go with a local broker as we couldn't see ourselves staying sane if dealing with London and Country through an entire application.

They did call me back, but they don't give any preliminary advice. I got a sense they can only supply you with quotes once you have found a property. When I asked any specific questions, they actually advised me to read on moneysavingexpert! LOL

I think L&C are "recommended" or mentioned as they are big enough to cope with the demand this site would bring and are fee free.

I dont want to say you get what you pay for, but typically you do. So a fee free broker is only getting paid commission which in my eyes is not enough for anything more than a large straightforward mortgage. Which to me means you cant do anything more than submit a case and give it the occasional nudge. Personally i charge a fee which means i take on less work but can dedicate more time to each case.

They are also a national company, you expect to get better service from a smaller local company whether that be mortgage advice or anything else, there will be the exception and im sure someone will come on to say they had great service soon enough.

This has been raised before as L&C do nothing that any other local broker can do. However, L&C is meant to have the capacity to cope with the business that this site generates whereas a local broker could not. You shouldnt see what they do as a recommendation as it is nothing any other broker cannot do.

I wonder how much the pay mse also
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
