deferred pension

Husband is 70. has got pension with a life company which matured when he was 65. he did not take pension then and is now told that he has lost income for last five tears anybody got any experiece re challenging this? thank you.

    It was his choice to defer taking his benefits, so probably won't be able to challenge it. On the plus side, his pot size has hopefully grown and should you opt to take an annuity you will get a better rate because of age and he's more likely to get an enhanced annuity based on his health now vs 5 years ago

    What made him come to this decision?

    What does the policy document say concerning failure to draw the pension at selected retirement age?
