Hubby and I have never ice skated and we are contemplating going to the ice rink on my birthday, this Sunday, but if you were a first timer would you go to the Belfast Icedome or Dundonald International Ice Bowl and why?

Any tips or advice for a first timer?

I would go to Dundonald, mainly because I had no idea there was an ice-rink in Belfast. I've been to Dundonald a few times and can't fault it. But I've nothing to compare it to TBH

If it's your first time and you're nervous about it, go during the week, preferably during the day, when it'll be quieter. Dunno what size the Belfast one is but I assume the Dundonald one is bigger too.

We didn't go yesterday as we thought it would be busier so we are hoping to go to Dundonald tomorrow.

Definitely the Ice Bowl, it's an institution. All the best for your first times!

When you first edge onto the ice it will feel really weird, just relax. Tensing up makes falling hurt more haha!

The Ice Dome looks like it has closed - the last post on their Facebook page is from last year.
