In a nutshell: I went back to college and then university full-time for the past five years which meant money was at a premium.
Checked my credit report yesterday for the first time and i'm hit with a whole host of problems:
A CCJ of £2,000-ish from the University property that I lived in up until the point i left for personal reasons. At the time, I was up to date with rent but refused to pay the rest of the tenancy because of the terrible situation. Did not attend court as the court papers were sent to wrong (home) address.
Plus
Loan a £200 - payday loan! I was introduced to this phenomenon at Uni.
DCA £62 - BT
DCA £130 - BT
DCA £112 - o2
All of the above now say DEFAULT with dates in the past year-18 months.
Now, this has royally messed me up.
- Do I pay these off? I know I owe this money, but, i've read when people default they just wait the six years or so?
- Will they be removed/fall off earlier than the often-mentioned six years?
- Will my credit be ruined for the next 4,5,6 years?
- Will i be looked at a little better for 'settling' them all?
Thank you all for the shared knowledge.
