Merrywood Loans beware

Beware of a company called Merrywood loans. i have done a loan application with them. They charge you £69 admin fee. and you dont get the loan.

I wrote letters, rang them to get my refund. they say one minute 30 days, then 30 working days, and now its when they decide to give it back.

I have got the trading standards involved and now have reported them Financial ombudsman.

So beware do not use them as i am finding you will not get a refund. Just abuse on the phone, and now they dont answer my calls. And now to make things worse they are accusing me of harassing them.

There THEIVES!!!

It does state in the T&C's the £69 admin fee so shouldnt have been a shock really. No reputable lender will ask for a fee up front.

I dont think anyone on here will use Merrywood Loans.

They're not thieves. Merrywood loans are a broker. This means that they don't loan you the money themselves. They scour the market to find a loan for applicants. For this they are entitled to charge an admin fee and they clearly state in their T&Cs that they will do so (T&Cs that you will have had to say whilst applying that you have read - presumably you didn't).

Their T&Cs will also clearly state a refund procedure. Usually it's in writing - this means e-mails and phone calls will not work. And they have up to 30 days to give it, minus a £5 admin fee.

Write to them, if you haven't received it in 30 days, then contact the ombudsman. Trading Standards won't get involved as they haven't done anything illegal. You're the one after all who said you had read the T&Cs whilst giving them your debit card details.

Another newbie happily giving out card details to a loan broker without reading terms and conditions and then moaning that they've been robbed.
I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.
  • Yet again, another OP who doesn't realise that when you give out credit or debit card details, you might as well give out £10 notes.

They want those details for one thing only!

    OOH spooky.

If you ever find a company that can take monies out of any of your accounts without YOU genuinely giving them the details to do so then you have found a fraudster of global proportions for sure.

!!!!!! even the Korean secret service couldn't do that.

How did they guess the 16 digit number, your name, your sort code, your pin number, your start and end dates?

It doesn't take columbo to work out that YOU gave them your card details so stop talking carp.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

There are currently two threads on MSE about Merrywood loans, this being one of them. I've posted on one of them, this one.

Swing and a miss, champ. Keep bubbling away those tiny tears, though.
