Are comps seasonal?

I only started the christmas ****** (I won't say the evil word) last year. And i managed to win 2 prizes , only small things but it enabled me to give my future mother in law some treats for her dog & my cat had some cat food. It was so stressful but lots of fun. Didn't expect to win. I tend to do any comp i see that i like , i always did this anyway but i notice i do a lot more now. And it was thanks to the Comp Thread here that i entered and the Prizes i did win were from a magazine who i now enter other comps , talk & share pics about my cat etc. So it has helped with my cat craze as well which is an extra bonus

I have been comping since 2005 - I have done ok over the years! then December, was pretty disappointing considering I worked uber hard and January was dismal.... then came an even more dismal February... I seriously thought, that's it - my luck has done one forever - never ever had I ever had such a quiet long dry spell... I thought there was something going on in the comping world I didn't know about - but suddenly out the blue I have had a fab March! I have my optimism back! :j hard to think positive when you not winning anything - it seems to be right when you not checking your emails every five minutes, and listening for the knocks at the door, that the wins seem to pop up! lol (well it does for me anyway!) Theres definitely less prizes about early on in year (still LOTs) but a lot of the huge carrot dangler prizes are when xmas is approaching and a lot can end in January, so that may be why you have specifically noticed a lessening of the kind of prizes you are after - deffo look into other types of comps you maybe not doing yet if the main board isn't enough for you like it used to be - like the click to wins, and daily mags etc... or even the rafflecopters if you are SERIOUSLY bored ha! (I personally hate them with a passion!) lol

Thanks Pesky, I do the click to wins but not the mag dailies so will give them a try too.. Thanks for the encouragement and info too.. Looking forward to my first post on the IWIWIW thread :j
