morning all :j
I am trying to get my friend on the DFW wagon.
I am encouraging her to balance transfer her long standing Barclaycard CC to a 0%.
She has seen the nationwide offer and wants to give it a go,
now for the strange bit...
she got married a couple of years ago, to a chap who owns his house outright, no mortgage at all. She isn't named on deeds.
so on the application form for the CC she is asked "homeowner/ renter" etc.
she doesn't own or rent, will she have trouble getting a CC ?
I have said to ring the company and explain situation rather than ticking boxes.
any thoughts please?

Hi!
In my experience, this wouldn't affect her application but should say renting as she is not a home owner. xxx

If she's married to the home owner then she too is a homeowner, or am I missing something?0 -

hi, that is the question?? is she, as her name isn't on anything?LIVE SIMPLY * GIVE MORE * EXPECT LESS * BE THANKFUL0 -
At a guess I would say she's not... but I'm no legal eagle. I agree that she should just call the credit card company to ask what she should put in the box.
I guess if she ticked 'renting' one of the questions would be 'how much rent'... or am I wrong.
Anyway, much easier to pick up the phone.LBM: March 2013 / DMP Start: 1 July 2013 / 14 Creditors

She is a homeowner. She is married to her spouse who owns property and said property is half hers if they divorce - never mind the name on the deeds.
Also, if he owns a house, he is likely to have a good credit rating, so if she has a financial link to him (joint account for instance), she is likely to benefit from that association too.
Go ahead and apply, put 'homeowner' in the box and see what they say.Debt Free! Long road, but we did it
