                    Hello all
I would like to get tickets for a musical in London at the end of July but am thoroughly confused about the number of websites offering tickets etc...the variety of offers is totally confusing! Dinner and theatre, tickets direct from the theatre, last minute tickets, tickets from other sellers...argh!
Its a very special occasion - son got 1st class Hons medical degree, daughter got teaching degree (single mum too!) and other daughter has work exchange year in Oz and 2 birthdays...So, I really want something special and don't want to get it wrong...
Any advice gratefully received
Rustie

Do you have a specific show and date in mind?
I would personally avoid the dinner and show tickets - I've been to a few and you usually get a rather limited menu. They are also usually bundled with tickets that won't give you the best views. Completely avoid Leicester sq. for eating out, there are nicer places in covent garden.
This website will give you some ideas of where the best seats are in each theatre: http://www.theatremonkey.com/
Watch out for crazy 'booking fees' and sites offering dirt cheap tickets for restricted views.
Once you know the show and date, let us know and i'm sure some people will help you out to find a good deal0

Thanks very much Ringo...was considering a dinner / theatre deal too!
There'll be 6 of us and I was thinking either Dirty Dancing or Chicago...would it be better to book with the theatre direct?
Weekend end of July - so Sat 28th July is the day!
 Thanks very much again0

If you like the idea of "Little Shop of Horrors", Ticketmaster have some on sale at £20 at the moment.

Rustie - those are 2 popular shows and its only 4 weeks away - i'm afraid you'll probably not get any great deals on them. Don't expect much in the way of discounts.. you only tend to get those on older shows.
Sorry! Going to the theatre can be quite pricey when you can't get the offers. You might be able to get restricted view seats, but they might not be worth the risk of ruining a nice night out0

thanks guys ...I know its short notice and I think I'll stick with Theatre Monkey's recommendations and tickets...havent decided which show yet but will decide this weekend...here's looking forward to a brilliant night out!
 Thanks again0

My son would love to get to see Joseph because he and I met Lee Mead. We would need cheap tickets and a cheap hotel.Time is more valuable than money. You can get more money but you can't get more time0

Joseph is sold out until next summer through the official channels. I would be amazed if you could get tickets cheap or even at face value before then. If you live in London you could try turning up on the night and queuing for returns, but there is no guarantee you will get them.
My son was also dead keen to see this, and we ended up buying tickets from a broker for twice the face value. We used seatwave.com. The tickets were not cheap (about £60 each) but we did have a fabulous night. The show was great and Lee Mead was very good in the role.0

            http://www.officiallondontheatre.co.uk/home/tickets#tktsbooth
"The tkts ticket booth in the clocktower building in Leicester Square is the best way to buy discount tickets on the day of performance. It is open from 10am to 7pm Monday to Saturday and 12pm to 3pm on Sundays. Not all shows sell tickets at the tkts booth, but there is always a great deal of choice. Also, you usually won’t be able to pick and choose where you sit - tkts sells the best seats it has available working from the front of the auditorium towards the back. Beware of imitations - tkts is the only official booth in London and is operated by the Society of London Theatre. Visit the tkts section of the website for more information"

also... to book tickets for Joseph without paying a booking fee you can go through Andrew Lloyd Webbers web site. http://www.reallyuseful.com/rug/html/index.htm0
