NCFE level 3 equivalent

hiya,

thinking of applying for a job but it asks for NVQ level 3 in health and socail care or equivalent.

I do not have this qualification but i do have a NCFE level 3 Health Care assistant certificate, could this be the equivalent?

Thanks

Just go for it an NFCE will most likely be fine. I apply for any job going whether they seek qualifications or not. The longer you leave it the less likely you are to get an interview. As they say, the early bird catches the worm :p

Technically it isn't as it is health care, not health and social care - but if you have relevant experience, that can also count towards it.
  • NCFE is the awarding body, not the type of qualification, others include City & Guilds, EDEXCEL etc.
The NVQ LEvel 3 and your Level 3 Certificate are very different qualifications, the NVQ being usually delivered over about a year (can be slightly less or even 2 years) and based on a combination of taught, classroom type learning as well as evidence based, normally in the workplace to build a portfolio. This is then measured against the standards of the qualification.

A certificate at Level 3 will be the same level of learning but will be a much smaller course, often only a few weeks.

The types of qualification are typically
Award - maybe around 3 units of the qualification
    Certificate - approx. 8 units
    Diploma - around 15 units.
