Thursday 20th March - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending :money:

Hi all,
DFW plans for today include: hoping my 0% card finally comes through so I can xfer the balance, making plans to pay stuff off with payday tomorrow (yay), and finishing an essay I have due so I haven't wasted all the money I've spent on my degree so far!!
I got a memo to say I've had a credit on Amazon from a pre-order which dropped in price. Going to use it to buy supplies to make three birthday gifts next month. Every little helps!
Have a good day all0 -
Morning Campers,
NOT a good start on the money-saving front here today as decided I won't stop worrying about cat until he's been to the £vet£, so have booked him in for tomorrow. Also booked windscreen repair but have been told we probably need a replacement (£75 excess) if we don't want to fail our MOT......on Tues! That'll teach me to listen to mr f when he says the stone chip on the driver's side isn't big enough for an MOT fail because.....it bloody well is!! Moan over....onto the list:
*Saved a bit of energy by switching off iron for last garment of the huge heap I did, saved kettle water in flask for next drink, heating off till much later, dehumidyfyer off, no need for heated airer as everything got dry on the line yesterday.
*Meals as per meal plans - lentil dhal & rice....using up ancient yellow split peas which may as well be made from tungsten steel the amount of time they take to cook! (Only buying chana dal ones in future!)
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
*Remembered to take turkey mince out of freezer for mr f to make his lovely turkey chilli tomorrow.....as 'Ingredients still in freezer' has equalled many an expensive take-away in the past, not good for budget or weight-loss.
*Checked veggie seedlings - the leeks are coming up. 3rd year of using the same 2 packs of seeds.....which were free! Whoo-hoo! Love growing leeks!
*Sow some more free flower seeds.
*Free fitness - did 50 min exercise DVD routine which equates to a 500 calorie-burn. Wasn't really in the mood, but Weigh-day is hoving into view again :-/
*Pulled another 1.5 lbs beautiful pink spring rhubarb - will blanch & freeze ready for a crumble to feed the hungry hoards over Easter. Left forcing crock off so it can start building up towards its summer crop.
*Decide what to do with cooked leftover veggies in freezer. Will probably make into bubble & squeak cakes & freeze.
*Do meal plans for next week.
*Check grocery budget & start shopping list. If we have a week eating out of the freezer & pantry, we should come in on budget this month.
*Add free bottle of wine to wine rack.....courtesy of Labour Party meeting raffle.....don't mind if I do!
*Hem last sleeve of the shrug I've made out of an old too-big purple top.
*Hopefully time to knit more of current project for present box.
*Did a couple of One Poll surveys - only 2 on there for me today but one was 50p & the other 20p, so worth the very few mins it took, as am well over halfway to cash in again.
OK, must crack on with this lot, as it took me longer than I thought to sort out windscreen & cat worries.

Evening all
Not an overly eventful day but thought I'd update anyway, trying to get back into the swing!
Checked banks and updated spreadsheets - loan payment has gone out, now under £2k, 7 payments to go!
Popped into supermarket on way home for lunch fare for tomorrow and next week - got reduced bagels, reduced rolls (which went with soup tonight), reduced crumpets for a more interesting weekend breakfast than porridge, cream cheese for the bagels and a sneaky treat of (reduced) egg custard tarts and a bottle of beer, Gave myself a £35 food budget for this pay month as I had tonnes in store, and will have finished the month £4.37 under - woop!
Placed an online Asda order this morning, £1 delivery slot, £10 TCB. Will tweak between now and delivery day to make sure it's everything I need for a good bit of batch cooking.
Not money saving but future proofing my income: got 74% in a mock exam, so pleased with that! Passmark was 50%!
Spending the evening budgeting for next month (am owed £150 in expenses which won't get paid this month, so will have to steal from the savings to pay off the credit card, humph), catching up on TV, and maybe updating the diary?!
Checked free postcode lottery and birthday bingo, and checked the secret little draw at the bottom of FPL - not today, sadly!
Think that's me done, have a great night all xxHouse Fund: £2,800/£20,000 - 14%

Funny how actually a relatively quiet day has turned out to be quite moneysaving - guess this means the habits are becoming ingrained?!House Fund: £2,800/£20,000 - 14%
