I hope everything gets sorted for you - it really does sound like a nightmare move0

Thanks, Kingstreet.
OP, at the risk of delaying things further, I would want a credible - exceptionally credible - explanation of what the power of attorney is about. You are in your right mind, haven't asked anyone to assume POA on your behalf, so what on earth is that all about?
Seems like a lot of incompetence going on here, all of which is costing OP a lot of money. Some complaint letters in order here, OP, after you've got your house. Nothing short of disgraceful - both mortgage advisor and solicitor. I'm sat here wondering if these two are qualified.0 -
Despite the West Brom and the 'gang' of solicitors (is there a term for a collection of solicitors?! Flock? Herd?!) best attempts I am indeed still in my right mind! Thank you for your replies, I was so sure this whole process had gone a tad off the normal path its great to get confirmation. I shall chase down an explanation for the POA, why it has to be for 11 separate names and why it has to be for 12 months. Im also not happy with the 'the donor further undertakes to indemnify the attorneys fully against all claims of whatever nature arising out of or in any way relating to this Power of Attorney or its formation or any act performed or claimed to be preformed under it'. Seems a pretty big cover all get out of jail clause to me! Plus at the rate this is going it is likely to cost me money for some unknown and new reason!0

"Off track" is putting it mildly. Anyway, OP, looks like you are getting your bearings now in this crazy making situation. You are definitely not going mad!
When you get an explanation about the POA do post back so folks on here can help unravel this dreadful, costly mess and get you in your house. I suspect West Brom are trying to act in a way that compensates for how solicitor and mortgage advisor have acted - but I could be completely wrong there.
Keep hold of every bit of correspondence/email about this fiasco and note down every conversation with date, time and person you spoke to so you can take up complaints later.0 -
Emailed solicitor and mortgage advisor to ask why I need POA, no reply so far. They have never taken so long to reply before!
Just sat down to look at signing some of the paperwork that arrived, landed another £20 fee for transferring the mortgage money to their solicitor, oh and the mortgage offer figures are totally different to the original arrangement. Where do I get my P45, I quit.0 -
Mortgage offer figures different from original arrangement? Is it enough to go ahead?0

£1000ish short. I can cope but it's rubbish there won't be any central heating installed this year now! Makes my deposit something odd like 15.6% now. More emails sent, only person replying is the estate agent whose getting twitchy!0

Sorry OP can't help with your problem but why not check out property118.com. West Brom is a favourite topic on that forum as we're just about to start court proceedings against them.
I'm sure someone on that forum can help with your issue.0
