Financing a car
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post this, but i had a look through the different sections and couldnt decide which one was most suitable.
I'm currently driving a 2000 Focus estate with 160k on the clock, which over the last 6 months has cost me £850 in repairs, mainly just due to its age. I need my car for work as i work 25 miles away from home on shifts. I've been thinking that maybe its time to get something newer with less mileage, thats as economical, if not more so. I've seen a few on t'internet, one at a dealer, the other private. I'm leaning more towards the private one as its just had a major service, mot and a years tax put on it, FSH etc and its cheap to run.
The trouble is i dont have 4k in cash to buy it. I dont really want a loan as i object to paying the APR. I have a 0% credit card with sufficient limit on it, but obviously i cant pay a private seller with it. How do i get round this problem?
I'd rather get it on the credit card, then shift it when i need to, to keep the 0% APR which also gives me the freedom to pay more if i can or less when i need to.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Worth checking if your current CC allows Super Balance Transfers (withdrawing the cash).
Even if it doesn't, it can be done but at a cost, which might be acceptable. See what your card charges for cash withdrawals.0 -
Thanks, i'll look into that0

Who's the card provider, and which specific card is it?0

Dont forget a £4000 car wont be new and £850 maybe a drop in the ocean if you get it wrong and buy something thats going to need lots of bits and pieces or one major item.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

6 month ago was probably the time to change

Now the money is spent have a good think about what will come up between now and the next MOT, then think about keeping and starting to save. if it flies the MOT maybe another year.
£850 must have got most of the major stuff due.
what's worth , £500 if top notch?0 -
You could always use your interest free Credit Card to pay any more repair bills instead of lumbering yourself with a £4k debt."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0
