Help to Buy Scheme and the 2014 Budget

Ok, so I read the budget document earlier and in it, it said that the Help to Buy equity loan scheme has been extended until 2020, but there is no mention of the mortgage guarantee scheme, and this is the one me and OH were relying on, with him going self employed later this year (not through choice), that is going to push us back at least 2 years due to building up tax returns and books.

Does anyone know if the mortgage guarantee is also extended to 2020 or is it set to end in 2016, as I can't find anything online.

Its only been extended till 2020 if the Tories are in Government which is by no means guaranteed.

All they are doing is kicking the can a bit further down the road.All these attempts to prop up the housing market and HPI will bite them in the @rse sooner or later.

I suspect the HTB - MG scheme will last about another twelve months.

TBH if you can get a 95% mortgage on HTB - MG, chances are you could have got one before it was launched and you'll still get one after it's gone.

There were 13 lenders offering 95% in September last year.

The Help to Buy Mortgage Guarantee scheme will be available until December 2016, as originally planned. Only the HTB Equity Loan was extended until 2020.
