Becoming a mortgage advisor for an independent Estate Agent?

I currently work for an independent estate agent. My bosses and I have discussed the possibility of me becoming a qualified mortgage advisor.
Before committing to CeMAP I would like a bit of advise as to how easy it is to get to the point of actually practising mortgage advice once qualified.
Would the company have to become an appointed rep of a mortgage network and what criteria must we fulfil in order to do so?
The company is not currently authorised by the FCA to give financial advice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Callum

You would need to pass the exams and then get CAS (Competent advisor status) that is harder to get than the exams as you have to have someone monitor your cases for a period and sign you off.
Initially i had to trade under someone elses firm, get CAS and then i was able to open up on my own, this was all under a network.
Its probably worth calling up a couple of networks explaining the situation and see what they suggest.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
