Lowell county court claim

On the 17th of Feb I received a county court claim stating that I owed Lowell £744 under a non regulated communications agreement with Vodafone.
Lowell were apparently assigned the claim in 2009.
I've acknowledged the claim, however I am not sure how to start my defence.
In 2007 I had an 18 month contract with Dot Mobile, in May 2008 Vodafone took over Dot Mobile and promised to keep me on the same terms as my previous contract, however within a month I received a bill for £500, I refused to pay. Vodafone cancelled my line and stopped contacting me.
Six year later Lowell are trying to claim the money.

Hi cwa,
Thanks for making me aware of this.
If you'd like me to take a closer look at things, could you email me with your details via the link in our profile here?
All you need to do is copy and paste the link into your web browser and it'll take you to the Contact us form on our website. To make sure it reaches me could you also quote the code WRT135 - MSE in the subject line?
Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. So I can make sure I've got it could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?
Kind regards,
Lee

If its 6 years since you last paid them anything you should not have acknowledged the debt as it would have been statute barred and they would not be able to chase you for it....dont know what the situation will be now though....hopefully someone with more experience will reply to you xDebt FREE thanks to YNAB0

Hi Ihead123
I had to acknowledge the claim to defend myself, as for the debt I did not acknowledge anything.0 -

Looks like cwa's debt would not be statute barred until at least May 2014, so not yet.
If so then they started the court claim in time within the 6 years and it can't be statute barred.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

was this a signed in store contract ?
If so the chances are they can not find the contract, or recreate a copy as the form is bust.Be happy...;)0
