How to get from Kings cross to Heathrow T3

Looking for some advice any help welcome.

I'm travelling with my 10 year old and two suitcases will be arriving at Kings Cross Station and need to get to Heathrow T3. I've been told I can get the tube directly from Kings cross or I can get the tube to Paddington and get on the Heathrow express. Which is easier with two cases and child?

Or have I got it all wrong?

Thanks:j

I would just get on the Piccadilly Line at Kings Cross direct to Heathrow.

May take a little longer, but there is no changing trains.

    Thank you Wealdroam!

just a couple more quick questions (sorry) is it easy enough to find which way to go to get the tube when we arrive at Kings cross and which tube train do we need?

    Thanks
  • Piccadilly Line to Heathrow T1-3 takes around about hour. Costs £5.70 adult single cash fare. With a Oystercard £5.00 peak £3.00 off peak. Best to be in the end carriage.

Going by Paddington is quicker (30mins), but over £20 single.

Lots of signs... just follow signs for Underground... Piccadilly Line.
You want a train heading west towards Heathrow T5, but of course you'll get off the stop before that... at T1-3.

Your 10YO will travel free on the tube - s/he doesn't need a ticket as long as s/he's with you

You will need to go to the manual gates to be let through the barriers - it should be obvious which ones they are)

About an hour and a half to Heathrow. Additionally, make sure it's for Terminal 5. If it's for Terminal 4 you'll still get to Terminal 1-3 but the driver gets a 15 minute break at T4. Just listen for the voice announcements and there are indicators in all the carriages. Up up and away.

There are lifts to the tube at King's Cross, and the 10 year old travels free with you.

Heathrow Express is a complete waste of money, unless you're loaded and are happy to pay ££££s to save 10 minutes and faff about changing trains. It should be withdrawn/abolished.
