Hi,
I have got my bankruptcy date booked and had a question regarding banking. A loan I had with Lloyds TSB will be going onto my bankruptcy as I was reckless and foolish when I took out the loan... thought I could afford to pay for it etc and now realising looking back I couldnt.
As I am older and wiser, I was wondering once discharged I will open a Co-op account and then maybe after a year apply to Lloyds again for a full current account as I was with them before and think they are a great bank. Do you think they will accept my application or will it be a huge NO NO because I owed them money?
Thanks

Not a chance in hell of getting a full account for at least a couple of years post discharge with any bank.0 -
4 years ago, out of the Blue TSB offered my OH a 15K loan for his business account, without any seeking it (they literally phoned up one day and offered it to him). It's nearly all paid back now, but he/we need some cash flow, so he asked them if he could take another one out/up the amount again and was told he could only get a max of £5K as he doesn't own a house. He didn't when they offered him 15K as well, but that was then and this is now. (hence our thinking anyone that wants to bank with LTSB is a little crazy - really not been very nice to OH at all about it all (we understand they are a business at the end of the day, but..well, it's a long story at what has happened over the last 2 years with them. Nasty nasty people.)
I know it's not an account, but it's the same as the others have said - what Banks do is not to be predicted - take a dart and throw it at a board and thats your answer (I''m sure thats how they do things lol). I would have thought that you would find it hard to get a full bank account immediately after discharge/a little while after, but then, who knows - all you can do is apply I guess. (BTW, when you say full account do you mean an O/D, as from my experience this is the only thing that will be different for me - I've seen people talking about getting a Visa Electron card on a BR account, which is what I've always had on my student/graduate/normal bank account, so the only other service I use is the OD, and never had a problem with the Electron as it's taken virtually everywhere now. And the DD/SO apparently according to the sticky you can get with one of the accounts (forget which - Co-op?) Sorry if I'm being dense).Do not feed the trolls please.0
