cashing a cheque without bank

Hi all,

I hope this is the right place to ask this?

As a graphic designer I have a full time job and I do some extra freelance in the evenings sometimes.

One particular freelance job I have done for a company that also does business with my current full time job. There is not a strickly conflict of interest here but I want to keep these as separate as possible.

The company can either pay cheque or BACS so I wanted to ask what the is the method I can get the money without it possibly being traced back to me?

I know it may be paranoid but its what I want to do!

Any advise greatly welcomed!

I assume your employer does not have access to your bank aco!!!!, so why does it matter? You are going to have to declare it for tax anyway.

    Hi,

Yes it will of course be declaring it for tax, but I would rather there be no link between myself and the company.

And no my employers dont have access, but want to keep it separate. As push come to shove they could use this against me if they were looking for a reason to let me go! (It has happened in the past).

Is there any way they could trace the payment? If it was sent to my account via bacs or cheque?

Not unless you show them your bank account.

If at any point you need to show them a bank statement, which, I don't see a reason for but I guess it's possible.. do you have other accounts? Can you just cash the cheque/have them transfer to another account you have open? You can easy transfer the money across once it has gone into the other account, but obviously they wouldn't see the original source.
