Oops I did it again...

I am on a DMP. There's not much money left over for extras. So I was silly and got a payday loan out. There's no option to get a credit card, because I have such a bad credit rating. Then I had a huge phone bill £92, and a huge mobile bill for £70 odd pound because I was being charged for delivery reports (!) and (for some reason we went over our internet limit even though we were on an unlimited contract...), so I have taken out 3 payday loans to replace the other money. I also had my birthday and my sons birthday too so this didn't help. I think I got fed up of having nothing all the time and just had a blow out. I have managed to delay 2 of them. I have exhausted all other options. The other one does not accept rollovers etc. and takes the money straightaway. I have put virtually everything on eBay, and my partner will probably lend me fifty pounds so that will help...
So without anyone on hand to lend me anything bar my partner, what can I do? Please note, despite the slightly light hearted title of my thread I am really feeling rather stupid right now, down and depressed and I know I am bad with money and have been trying so hard for the past few years to keep a lid on it. I don't really know what to do? Can anyone helpful advise please?

  • Hi.
Well done on coming here to get some advice.
I see you are not new to the site, so assume you are familiar with some of the tools that are available here.
It is often the case that someone will have a 'false start' in dealing with their financial problems - so don't beat yourself up too badly as at least you have now realised you need to do something about it.
If you post up an SoA (statement of Affairs/Account) being brutally honest about everything you owe and your total family income then you will be bombarded with advice on how to move forward. In the meantime, take a deep breath. There really isn't ANY money problem that is unsolvable - it just takes time, effort and determination to crack it.

It's possibly a good idea to get the thread title changed. You are not likely to get as much help with the current one as with a more serious one.

Have you questioned these with the provider because it doesn't make sense, especially if you have had the contract for some time and not noticed these charges before? Have you used it abroad recently (or maybe been on the south coast in the right weather conditions for the signal to be picked up in France)?
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

    Hi,

I would suggest you contact your dmp provider and explain all to them so that these debts can be included in your current dmp. The worse case is they cancel your dmp for taking out credit, in which case you could try another free provider.. not sure who yours is with but stepchange, payplan etc or go self managed.

Hope you find the solution soon.
