Moving away for a new job - benefit entitlement

HI
I was hoping i could get some advice from some wise old heads on this forum.
Basically i have been offered a job in Hungerford, which is for an amazing company and i cant say no, the catch is that its a junior position and i will only be on £1000 a month. The cheapest room that i can find is around £500 a month, which seriously eats into my wages. Once tax is taken into account and food etc im pretty much left with £0.
Is there any sort of help that i can get with my rent or am i completely on my own here?
If anyone could help me out that would be amazing

I'm afraid I can't offer any advice regarding benefits, but have you looked on SpareRoom.co.uk for accommodation ? £500 a month sounds a bit steep, I'd be surprised if you can't find something a bit cheaper.
I have no affiliation to this website, just a satified customer
I work all over the country as a contractor, and this site is always my first port of call.
Hope this helps.0 -
Great if you can find helprickyplows wrote: »HI

But if you can't afford to survive on the wage, then you may have to say no
What makes it such an amazing job you can't say no to ?
An one that provides such a low salary ? You'd earn more working full time in your local Tesco and no moving costs or increase in living costs0 -

Hi,
Im a graduate and usually id be expected to do this work for free for a year (which is mad) Its also a really great company that will just grow and grow. I guess i could live on the breadline until i can ask for more money but id rather not haha.
£500 seems to be pretty standard for Hungerford, i think its quite a rich area.0 -
If its something you have to do, you'll probably just have to look into cutting expenses where you can. Look for a roommate situation. Look into buying food in bulk and preparing meals ahead of time to save money. Not a good situation to be in regardless.0

the alternative is to commute in then
most people in london dont live right where they work.
Hungerford has a trainstation
what youll save in rent living outside should cover the travel + some0 -
I found a room on that Spare Room website listed above for £80 a week.Make £2018 in 2018 Challenge - Total to date £2,1080
-
I think commuting is my best bet.
Im finding with a lot of rooms on gumtree and spareroom.com are either expired or non existent, the owner just has bothered to remove it from the internet. I head down an awful lot of blind alleys on sites like that0 -
I think your just being picky, can't speak for spareroom but gumtree is easy to see when people posted and you'd get something cheaper then 500.People don't know what they want until you show them.0
