Boyfriends Birthday HELP

Hello all
My boyfriends birthday is coming up in April and I'm really stuck for gift ideas. I would like to make him something but have no idea what. He isn't the type of person who likes gimmicky things as he would rather have something useful than 'random stuff' that ends up lying around.
The problem is that I am really broke. It was my birthday yesterday and he spoilt me as did my family so I feel guilty not being able to do the same (he knows my situation and said he doesn't want anything but it's just not in my nature as I love giving gifts but want to try and do it within my means).
I will cook him a meal and maybe make him a cake (although you can get decent ones quite cheap). I have got him some toiletries already as he does like his shower stuff. I am also thinking about making some shaving cream in a kilner jar.
He rides a motorbike so I would have loved to have got him a new helmet or leather trousers but to do that I need his input and I know he will say no.
He loves football but doesn't really have any hobbies although he is always tinkering with computers. He is 31 if that helps. He is fussy with clothing so I don't tend to buy him clothes anymore, I just get him gift cards but I always seem to do that so would like something thoughtful as well.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Why not get a cheap photo album and fill with photos of all the fun places you have been? Cheap but meaningful. Maybe even personalise the front cover?0

I did something similar years ago with our holiday pics in and I would love to do another some day but due to money and other things we haven't really done a lot of late so I have hardly any new pictures for oneI love sentimental gifts like that though. :j

Once when money was tight I made my boyfriend 12 date cards which he opened each month on the date of his birthday. A lot of the ideas were just cheap things, eg we went to look round a local castle, had a movie night at home, had a picnic, did pretend camping at home and I put a few more expensive ones in such as a meal out and a trip to town to buy him a present (I'd put £20 in the envelope so there was a budget for it). It was really fun and the cheaper dates were often the best. And it spreads the spending out so you don't have to do it all in one go0

Don't know what team he supports but I bought my husband (Southampton) and my son (Aberdeen) a book of Newspaper Headlines - dated back from 1908 - they weren't terribly expensive but one of the best presents they have ever received - sits on our coffee table as it is quite big and gets picked up and browsed over and over again0

Hi
I used an idea from Not on the Highstreet to make my boyfriend a recent birthday present. I printed some maps of significant places, e.g. First holiday, where we met, etc. and cut them into heart shapes. I then mounted then in a photo frame.
If you search for bespoke map trio on the website it is the first link. There are lots of other designs too.0 -
Thanks everyone, there are some lovely ideas0

He has hobbies.
Football (Buy him tickets to a game?)
Computers (Buy him a book about them....)
Motorbikes (Tickets to Local Race Circuit - I took my lad to Olton Park to watch classic bike racing)
(A book on maintenance or Rosso or John Maguiness)
(Don't buy him a helmet from aldi for £29.99..some things should not be subject to money saving)
You (Wrap yourself up)0 -
if your boyfriend like football
you can try football shirts or watch0
