I agree with MATH.
I regularly wash stuff in the washing machine despite a dry cleaning label.
NOT WOOL though if it is not a washable one.
For quite a lot of things what can really go wrong is the "reshaping" after the wash. So don't let the article hang around wet and crumple and put in back in shape and you should be fine.
My mother always used to wash very posh silk scarves in tepid water, rinse immediately and wring in the salad spinner. Then iron between 2 tea-towels.
Smell much better than some dry-cleaning fluids.I lost my job as a cricket commentator for saying “I don’t want to bore you with the details”.Milton Jones0 -
OK, I know some of you lovely OS-ers will be able to help!
(((((((((((flattery)))))))))))
I have a new Monsoon silk dress, was out for dinner/drinks the other night and OH managed to spill beer on the skirt bit! There are also a couple of tiny stains on it, perhaps splashes from the beer.
I rinsed it with water straight away but it is still a bit noticeable and has left a 'tidemark'. It says 'dry clean only' but I have had clothes ruined at the DC before so am very reluctant to entrust it to them! What should I do????
Thanks in advance.0
