Letter template for Barclays-stopping interest?

Hi all
Hope someone can help. Apologies if in wrong place but this may just kick off a debt free journey for me.
I have had a dormant Barclays account for many years that's accumulated interest to the point I now need to address it and I was hoping to contact them by letter to see if anything can be done to stop interest being added with a view to closing the account once this is paid off-which may take a while
Are there any templates available that could help me request this please?
Also I am worried that the debt will be sold on which as some of us are experiencing is a nightmare scenario
Thanks as usual

Hi,
What sort of account was it ? bank account ? overdraught ? creditcard ?
has it been more than 6 yrs since you acknowledged this debt ? .when an account gets sold on to a DCA the interest etc is normally stopped anyway, so that may actually be your best option, DCA`s also will take a much lower offer to settle an account, that the original creditor would have done, as they have paid out a lot less money for it.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
