Sore and itchy eyelashes

For the last couple of years i've been suffering with sore and itchy eyelashes. It use to be when I wore mascara that was a couple months old. But now even brand new mascara's are making my eyes itchy and sore straight away.
They have also become sore and itchy even when wearing no makeup.
I use a gentle cleanser such as Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish or Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm which don't irrate my eyes (other products do like eye makeup remover).
Just wondering if there is anything out there to help. I do wear false lashes but use Duo Glue and it doesn't seem to affect my eyes neither does eyeliner.
I can't really not wear mascara as I have straight and short lashes, plus I do makeup at college and model for classmates. My eyes are sometimes in agony the next day after class if someone has used tons of mascara or one of their own eye makeup removers.

Given a choice between agony or living with straight short lashes I know which I would choose!
I would have assumed that learning how to deal with sensative skin was part of studying makeup, so perhaps your tutor can help? Getting your classmates to use your own makeup remover seems like one straightforward thing you can do.
Old mascara is often mentioned at the same time as eyelash mites. http://seeker7.hubpages.com/hub/Eyelash-MiteBut a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

I suffered from sore eyes when I used to use Waterproof mascara, no matter if it was cheap or expensive, it took a while to pin down the cause, I must have a reaction to whatever it is that makes it waterproof.
As you are ok with the false lash glue could you just curl your own lashes so they blend with the falses & not use mascara at all?
Meant to say i used baby shampoo on my sore eyelids & it did help. I read about using it when i did a Google search but can't remember which website it was now.'there goes an old transexual, last seen heading south,

I was advised by my optician (many years ago) to use an eyelash scrub of baby shampoo and it really does soothe itchy eyelids.
A few drops of baby shampoo in warm boiled water and then rubbed over eyelashes with cotton buds - one bud for each eye. I did find Johnsons's Baby Shampoo was best.
Hope this helps0 -
I'd see a doctor or optician just to check things are ok. I had itchy eyes at the end of the day for ages, especially when wearing make up, turns out it was the first sign for me of ocular rosacea. Worth checking.0

Have you tried the fragrance-free hypoallergenic mascaras too?
I've been having trouble with watery eyes recently, but it's mostly at night. I can hardly get my eyes open of a morning sometimes, my eyelids are stuck together! :eek:0 -
Sounds like you may have the same problem as me. I was diagnosed with a condition called Blepharitis. I also have very short sparse lashes. When my Blepharitis flares up, I get really sore eyelashes and they can get quite crusty & fall out.
When mine flares up I stop wearing eye makeup & use a product called Blephasol eye lotion, although you can use this product even when your eyes are ok. I tried the baby shampoo and it make my condition worse.

You could probably buy it elsewhere.
However, as others have said, it may benefit you to see an optician about it.0 -

.
It really is worth seeing someone if you get recurrent itchiness or things I think. That's two of us with different things with these symptoms, probably loads of more, so would be prudent to see an expert. Vision is pretty wonderful0 -
Am going to go doctors and see what they say as you say sight is very important. I never get crusty or any eyelashes falling out and never have redness (however sometimes the outer corner of my eyes can get slighty red and sting when i've had to much makeup applied).
It could be that I just have really sensitive eyes and need to use a hypoallergenic mascara. Always worth getting it checked for health issues first though.0 -
I echo those who say that you need to get this checked out just in case it is a sign of something medical.
Personally though I can't understand why you would continue to use anything which exacerbates the problem.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Switch to hypo-allergenic products. Sounds like you have blephartis (you need to get checked at the doctors though). To ease the soreness of your eyes if you have blepharitis you need to get some Johnsons baby shampoo - put a little squirt into some hot water, let it cool slightly and then soak cotton makeup pads and place them over the eye (you need to do this several times a day). I get blepharitis every so often and this is what my hospital consultant advised that I do.0
