Insurance advice needed please

I'm in court tomorrow for my BR . I've just been reading about car and house insurance being affected by BR.
Do I need to contact aviva about my car ins tomorrow? I've just renewed and paid the year upfront in Feb.
I guess I'm also going to have to tell my parents about the BR because I live with them (house ins). I really didn't want to do this. If I can wait till renewal it will be ok because I get the quotes etc for them. Would that work?
I really don't know what to do. I'm also named driver on my parents car.
Any advice would be appreciated x

my car insurance is with Aviva also, paid for the year as yours is, I rang them to tell them about the br and they thanked me for letting them know, but they had no problem with it. I would suggest you call them best to be upfront.
Contents insurance they usually ask if anyone in the household has been br, my company would not renew but I went online answered the dreaded question and got an ok quote with the post office again paid up front.
Good luck its all doable, just be honest x

That's a relief about aviva thank you. I'll do that tomorrow. I'll see when my parents house insurance is due and if It's soon, I'll hang on till renewal because I really don't want to tell them. Thanks for your help :-)

  • Bare in mind if you do not tell your household insurance and you have a claim and they find out you are BR they may void your insurance and not pay out anyway.

I like you live at home with my mam and dad, I was up front with them about the BR infact did it with there help, however when my dad called to let them know, indeed they do ask anyone in the household BR he told them yes and they terminated the insurance there and then on the spot.

Also what about your post, you will get stuff in the mail from the insolvency people will you be ok at hiding that or may they get there hands on it.
  • You should notify both.
If you have any troubles with the house insurance, go to Co-Op, they were brilliant with us and cheaper than we had before. Don't bother with the price comparison sites as they were worse then useless for providing a quote during bankruptcy.

I've checked the house insurance & its due August so I phoned them. I've got to ring back tomorrow because the dept I needed was closed. I would only have left it if it was due in the next few weeks.
I don't want to tell my parents because they are both mid 80s and it would stresstthem. Post isn't an issue. Thanks for your reply.

No news on the house insurance yet, I haven't had a chance to phone. Aviva and elephant were fine with the car insurances but both are paid upfront so I can't comment on instalments. Both also said renewal wouldn't be a problem as long as they were paid upfront. So positive so far :-)
