Hi Everone,
I just wanted to say thankyou to everyone that posts on here.
The information and kind words you give to everyone really do help.
I have not posted on here before(to shy:o ) but have been reading posts for over a year.
Myself and my husband and our 3 chilldren have been living in debt for over 5 years and it just got worse everyday.
Husband ended up losing his job due to depression,we seperated for a year, but we both new that it was the debt that was the problem not us.
So after reading post after post on here we went to our local cab office who advised us to go bankrupt.
We live in a council house as our house had already been sold through a power of sale through the halifax and we owed them £10,000+.
So to cut a very long story short in feb this year my husband went bankrupt with over £35,000 of debt.
We didn't really feel better about things, although i was so pleased to be able to plug the phone in without the worry of who was going to ring.
We just felt like it was always going to be there and we failed.
Today we feel different
i opened the post to day to read that we have got eary discharge.
We cannot believe it,we don't have a penny savings we lost our house but we are finally DEBT FREE and we can look to the future.
So thankyou everyone that posts and i hope this post gives other people
hope for their future to.

Can I just say thank you Jayne for sharing your story

IMHO, it is lovely to see someone accepting it as serious as it is, but also being able to smile and say how relieved they are, and come across as a decent human being, reminding me that going BR myself does not make me a bad person, just a silly one in the past.
I wish you all the luck in the future and hope your happiness continues
Thank you again

Well done Jammy, what a lovely post that brought a tear to my eye (sorry am a little weepy today)
Glad you and hubby managed to sort things and get back together.
I know exactly what you mean about the phone...i've never been as popular since missing a 'few' payments (see my siggie)
All the very best luck and maybe you could post on here as an expert now???The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter

Hiding the post under the microwave.
And worst of all lying to myself,
But as alot of us now Know things can and do get better,we just won't believe it till it happens.

Hi love your sig about the worry.i used to be like that Jayne and believe it or not i actually enjoy the post dropping through the letter box now mind you i do keep finding unopened letters hidden around the flat (ooppss naughty naughty)
It's exactly how i feel we spent years worrying and in less than 5 months it's all done.
My only regret is that we didn't do it sooner.
There is so much stigma about going bankrupt and you feel like such a failure, but my advise to anyone that is in as much mess as we were, is do it because it can only get better from now.0 -
i agree Jammy123 wished i had done it sooner
