Old Style Daily Sunday 16th March

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Up early and washing machine is on with contents of bathroom. Ready to start cleaning it now.

Well what a day of rugby yesterday! Why couldn't Wales do that against England? But was very happy that Ireland won and that game was the best in the whole competition. I would imagine the Guinness and Jamesons will be flowing from yesterday until late on Monday night _party_

Plans with DD and GDD for yesterday were postponed until today so let's hope we get sorted today. Not much else planned but may try and get a bike ride in if we are home in time. Can't wait until the clocks change and we have lighter evenings in a couple of weeks.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well and safe and have a super day :)

Morning TTFM & all who cross & follow
Fish fed, hubby & I have a cuppa.
Hugs to Molly, Hilstep & snoozer.
LW, I hope you are ok.
I have washing on the line, I'll strip the bed later & wash the bedding next.
I spent y'day morning with 2 of the DGD's & y'day afternoon with one of the DGS's, I walked 2 miles with the DGD's who are 3 & 6 and played in the park for a couple of hours, pushing swings & rocking horses.
By the evening all I could do was sit & sew, but I did manage to pin & tack some taggies, so they are ready for the sewing machine later.
I cheated on the housework & only bottomed the downstairs loo, so today I need to do the upstairs bathroom & the kitchen.
I'm expecting someone to collect some ebay stuff today so need to make sure that is ready.
Roast pork & all the trimmings for lunch.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

    Morning everyone

Hugs to those that want/need them.

Now light, gorgeous blue sky and sun shining brightly – not sure about the temperature though as I haven’t ventured outside as yet.

DH and myself awake and enjoying a peaceful first cuppa of the day. Boys still in their pits.

Dinner last night was at the pub with our friends which was delicious as always – and our friends really enjoyed their meal. DS2 had a rack of ribs – it was huge – it kept him quiet for a while – he did just manage to finish them off though!

Our day at the promo event went well, it was really cloudy and overcast and windy in the morning and the wind was quite chilly – but then the sun got out and it was beautiful in the afternoon and really warmed up – we spoke to lots of people, and was able to answer questions and give people some literature. We’re going back today but it will be a much shorter day today – so will see how that goes.

Have some washing in the machine which will go on the line shortly. Will do another load that I’ll either put out or ask the boys to put out whilst we’re out.

Now need to go and get a shower, brekkie etc.

    Have a peaceful Sunday x

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning :hello:

Thanks for all the birthday wishes :D

I did the first thing I usually do every morning - open the laundry basket and start getting a load together for the machine. I was halfway through then threw the lot back in and closed the lid :D I decided to do nothing, so nothing is what I did, all day long :D I played with some yarn and caught up with all my recorded programs.

I'm going to potter about the house this morning, this afternoon I'll be gardening again. Some of my tomatoes are almost ready to be planted in the greenhouse so I'll put some canes up and hunt for the string. Cleo has been escaping again and amusing herself by digging and generally rearranging the garden, lol, so I need to sweep the path and patio - and pick up the weeds she has helpfully dug out :D

    Have a good day.

LW, I hope you are ok.
Awww, bless you for asking.:A I've had a rough few days, very tired and achey; been reading the thread but hadn't the energy to put together a post myself. It's ok, it'll pass.:o

We went to the opera last night, saw the Welsh National Opera production of Verdi's La Traviata, which we both thoroughly enjoyed; of course I'm wiped out today. Mr LW kindly cooked us egg'n'chips for lunch today though, so I've at least had some food. And Jessie's the easiest dog to look after, so no problems there, thankfully.:o

Going to take it easy for the rest of today I think, and hopefully I'll be a bit better tomorrow.:o
If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)

    Hi all
LW, I love La Trav, one of my favourites.
So far I've managed to sort out the kitchen, make banana bread, couscous with sardines for my lunches next week & made a dozen stuffing balls,. I've cut out more taggies, stripped the beds & got the bedding washed & dry. I still need to do the family bathroom, btu I'm waiting for someone to collect some ebay items & I feel a very strong urge to nap for half an hour.
Hubby's been working in the garden since 7:30 & has just dug some carrots, so I might make some carrot & coriander soup later.
I best make a start on the bathroom before I fall asleep.
    Hugs Hester

    Afternoon all,

your all such busy bees today. Puts me to shame. Ive only just put the house back together after my Grandson left a couple of hours ago. He had been out with Mummy and Daddy all day and was out of routine and by the time we collected him he was bawling his head off with tiredness. He was too upset to eat tea, so in the end I got him ready for bed, gave him a bottle and he fell asleep in my arms. He was in bed for 8 then he got me up at 8.. How on earth did I cope when I had 'Youngest'? He was my 5th child ranging ages from this precious newborn to a 15 year old who was in his final year of school. I'm shattered now but saying that, I'm much more comfortable in the role of looking after children than I would ever be doing anything else.

Talking about 'Youngest'. Hes not very well now. He's like me though, when he is ill he withdraws to the quietness of his room.

Hubby is fast asleep downstairs, 'Youngest's is fast asleep in his room. I think I might go and have a bit of a nap myself. Pity we are all missing the sun but when needs must.

    Have a good day all,

    Afternoon :hello:

Yesterday I got pretty much all my jobs done as planned, still haven't made it out for a run though but did do some of my exercise DVD so that's something.
Today we had a relaxed Sunday morning as usual and my OH cooked us breakfast (oat cakes, fried egg, some beans that were left over & bacon), was very yummy :D
He then went to fix something on his car, sounded too technical for me, whilst I prepped beef sunday dinner, cleaned the main bathroom, hooved up downstairs, washed the pots and planted some seeds ready for going to the allotment in a few weeks time.
Beef dinner was tasty and has filled us both up so we are saving the fudge cake that ice-cream for later this evening :)
Just having 10 minutes and then we are off to help my parents mark the allotment out in to sections. Will need to wrap up as it is dry but a little overcast and windy here.

Have a lovely Sunday everyone :j
Christmas is the most magical time of the year :santa2:
