When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of big "stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the Gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free...
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending :money:

Morning all (just!)
Thanks for starting the thread Ziggy, quiet here today! hopefully everyone's out enjoying the sun!
This weekend I will:
Check banks
Check CCs
Check TCB
Quick rummage through room at home for anything to sell
NSDs
Wrap cousin's birthday presents
Clean car using water from water butt
Write letter for mother about bank charges
Think we're being slightly naughty and getting a takeaway for tea, but will share one meal rather than buy one each we won't finish
Bit of homework
Maybe update my long neglected diary...
Look into moving my esaver funds to the first direct regular savings account... I like having separate pots for car maintenance, holiday and car insurance, but can do that via spreadsheet if I can get more interest...
Think that's it for now, going to jump in the shower quickly then start cleaning out the neglected car!
Enjoy your Saturdays!

Morning everyone!
Today's MSE activity: I've already unblocked a slow-draining plughole the OS way- bicarb/vinegar volcano! Saved on buying chemicals. And I've trawled the freebie board! Planning to make wash bags as gifts next month so stocking up on little samples to put in them.
Planning to update my signature and spreadsheet with the vet debt (grrr), post an eBay parcel, think what else I can put up for sale, and work on a cross stitch I want to make into a cushion cover for DM's mothers' day gift.0 -

Hi Saturday Savers,
A good start today as Weigh-day revealed a 3lb loss this week. Whooo-hoo! All that jumping around to DVDs in my bra & pants & mad levels of calorie counting has paid off!
Today's bits & pieces:
*Coffee in town - had a small cup without a cake. Cakey naughtiness had been creeping in lately. Not good for weight-loss OR personal 'spends' lasting till the end of the month. You will be impressed that the 'free' titchy biscuit with my coffee & a free piece of mint rock from the Co-op Bank's sweetie bowl served as my free 50 calorie mid-morning snack!
*Paid in a cheque I'd been waiting for.
*Went to cheap independent card shop for some cards I needed. Also bought 2 small presents, but all from our 'Presents Piggy' so didn't touch bank account.
*Bought lovely 'Next' tunic from charity shop - £4-99. It easily passed my 'charity shop armpit test' as looks pretty much unworn. Used my March Personal Spends, so bank account unscathed.
*Bought fruit & veg from local market - £10 for 2 huge bag-for-life-fulls which included avocados & purple-sprouting broccoli.
*Topped up store cupboard ingredients at Aldi....also their low-fat crisps which are pretty much identical to french fries & Quavers but much cheaper.
*Village butcher to take advantage of this week's special offer plus a £2.50 ham hock for the freezer (will go in slow cooker another week). Butcher knows us now & always rounds the bill down to nearest £.
*Free fitness as did exercise DVD. mr f put the home cinema amp on so the extra bass powered me through half an hour of excruciating music......worth it though, as the last time I had this much of a waist....& believe me, it still needs some serious work...... was back in 6th form...... :-)
*Did a few surveys...infuriating one from Ipsos Mori that I got halfway through but couldn't physically be completed due to the way it was set up. It was good points too, but wasted my time.
*Updated 3 budgets.
*Free entertainment as have recorded TV prog, plus new library book to start, knitting project, the rest of the pile of mags Mum gave me, etc.
*Will save energy by not putting fire on till much later & sharing a hot bubbly bath later.
Well, it's mr f's cooking night, so I'm just going to enjoy myself now.
Bob - My B-i-L also worked at Axa down in the South-East. A big firm, I know, but it did make me smile that you could have shared an office with him somewhere along the line.
OK, I'm off. Have a great Saturday night, everyone,

Hi all,
I've been really busy lately but still trying to do everything in a DFW style.
The List:
# Downloaded two free Apps to OH's mobile.
# Called credit card company to resolve something that is stopping me closing down two £0 balance credit cards.
# Bought two DVDs in a charity shop.
# Chose a new mobile phone, £2 cheaper per month than existing one.
# Bought four tubes of toothpaste while they were cheap.
# Did Ipsos surveys.
# Checked with HMRC about an Income Tax refund. I'm due £800 back! :rotfl: You can check your PAYE calculation here using Martin's easy tool: (Link)Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -
Hi,
Gorgeous sunshine today. Not many money saving things today, but still 'kept the faith' as:
*Had a day out which cost £2 parking & 2 coffees. Took a picnic. Free fitness too, as walked a circuit, ate picnic, then decided to power-walk round again. Avoided cakes. Good for purse, plus am determined to finish the job I started & take off the rest of this weight.
*Bought compost brand which was on offer - 3 big sacks for £10. Remembered to take money from the 'Household Piggy' with me, so didn't need to raid bank account.
*Heating off till much later.
*Potted up my baby cherry tomato plants. Have left them in greenhouse but wrapped them well in old IKEA muslin curtain (seems to work as well as the gardening fleece stuff).
*Watered seedlings - radishes are through now, plus peppers & the 1st cucumber.
*Emailed Ipsos to complain about a survey I got a long way into yesterday then could not finish due to a technical fault in the way they'd set it up. Am getting very near cash-in level again & wanted the points!
*Use it up campaign still ongoing. Finished the last of an eye shadow from the depths of my drawer of abandoned make-up colours. This was the last one so can have a new one now. Hurrah!
*Read the Observer online instead of buying one.
*Still to do - write a job list for tomorrow. Lots of things I want to get done, quite a few of them money saving in one way or another.
Enjoy your Sunday night, everyone,
