On a recent internet search for frugal recipes I read roasting tin potatoes is a cheap tasty option.
Have you tried it? Would you make them again?
Love to hear your thoughts, thanks :-)

I have roasted them near the top of the oven. Can't remember how long but probably about 20 minutes to half an hour. They weren't like the usual roast potatoes because of the texture, more like using new potatoes.'Yaze whit yeh hive an ye'll niver wahnt'

I've never tried roasting them but they work really well sliced and fried. I have them with a cooked breakfast instead of Hash Browns (healthier too) or in a frittata/Spanish omelette.0

Yes plop them in deep fat fryer as you would chips, i have been doing this for years, what i have tried and tested is slightly lower the temperature as some tend to pop , this is ok if your fryer has a closed lid , mine does not so i lower the temp and cook till golden .....lovelyC.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z #7 member N.I splinter-group co-ordinater

My mum used to do this - they were yummy!
Drain the water from the tin and roast for about 20/30 mins in vegetable oil (put the roasting tin with oil in the oven empty first for a few minutes).
I recently bought A Girl Called Jack cookbook and she uses tinned spuds quite a bit, will add to my next shop.Barclaycard 0% - [STRIKE]£1688.37 [/STRIKE] Paid off 10.06.120 -
This is a good idea actually, so thanks for asking. We do have trouble keeping potatoes from the supermarket even though they are kept in a hesien sack in the entry where it is dark and cool.
I shall buy a tin and give them a try. I have had them before but not for more years than I care to remember !:D0 -
Yes, with seasoning about 15 minutes. They're different but in a good way! Xx0

I usually do them in a flavoured oil (chilli or garlic) and chuck a handful of fresh chopped herbs on them so it livens them up a bit. They are handy to have in the cupboard as a standby.0

I bought some tinned potatoes recently as I saw on Frugal Queen's blog that she roasts them. I haven't tried it yet, might do it for lunch on Sunday.:)HOUSE MOVE FUND £16,000/ £19,000

I've never tried roasting them but I heat them up, then drain, then put some good quality olive oil and butter in the pan, add some seasoning of choice (usually salt, pepper, chilli flakes), and crush them. Fab. I've said before on this forum, after having crushed potatoes at meals out, I'm convinced the majority of places that serve that side dish use tinned pots.0

I use tinned potatoes a lot 'cos being here by myself i found 'fresh' ones would start to go off. And at only 15p a tin for Tesco own they're cheaper.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
