How long til money arrives?

OH was sacked from old job. Had 4 interviews for one job, which is well paid, but as we are facing bankruptcy we had no money whatsoever. we have now left our home before it is reposessed and moved in to rented with 3 children. the rent is due today and the landlady is going crackers. we can afford the monthly rent but dh only got a weeks worth of money and it does not cover rent food etc. He has sent off the signing off form but we cannot get through to find out when we will get some money, we are desperate as we can only give her half of the rent.

This is as bad as waiting for the bailiffs to show up.

You cant get through to the agency on the phone, there is always such a queue. What to do next?

You could apply to the DSS for a crisis loan to cover the period until the first wages come in.

Good news is that the landlady can't make you homeless without going through court which can take months so I'd at least give her half the rent and tell her you'll pay her the balance when DH's giro comes through which should be a week or so.
