Cleaning air vent

Hello,

Does anyone know the best thing to use to clean a passive air vent cover? It seems to have faded a bit over the years and looks dirty rather than a proper white. It's described as: White epoxy finished steel

like this one:

Most grateful if anyone can help.

p.s. I'm keen not to damage it as I'm not sure how practical it would be to replace with it being embedded in the ceiling!

if it has a plastic cover - which has yellowed with age you will need to desurface it back to whiter plastic
the only effective way to do this without scratching it is to use a metal polish - like duraglit or brasso
and then wash it off when your happy
    but watch your ceiling paint

you may want to test a tiny patch on the side out of view first though
and it will take a while

I assume you meant plastic covered metal ?
as epoxy is a resin not a paint

Thank you for your correction, but I'm pretty sure the manufacturer knows what it is made with. Epoxy powder coatings are used on steel.

I use WD40 to clean my extractor vent which is white plastic (and tops of cabinets) Just spray onto a cloth and wipe. (A piece of old vest works well and brings it up a treat!)
You might like to try a small test area first as suggested previously.
